ruth ava lyons+ austraila

August 25, 2013 Hidell Brooks

hidell brooks gallery is very envious of one of our artists who won the lottery to be the first american artist in residence at the world renown heron island research station on the great barrier reef.  ruth ava lyons is headed there for the month of october.

ruth will be doing underwater photograph during daily scuba dives on the reef to gather visual material to be used in future paintings.  she received a regional artist grant from the regional artist project grant consortium to support the residence.  this is a supremely competitive grant process.  the project was made possible through the support of the north carolina arts council, the blumenthal endownment, and the arts council in mecklenburg county.

we are especial excited because paintings in ruth ava lyons spring solo exhibition at hidell brooks gallery will reflect her experience on the worlds largest coral reef ecosystem which can be seen from outer space as the world's biggest single structure. ruth's show is scheduled for march 2014!  here are few paintings by ruth ava lyons currently available.
