hidell brooks is so ecstatic for the opening of go figure our group exhibtion focused on figure paintings and sculpture. the show has been in our minds for years and it is wonderful to see it come to fruition. fourteen artists are included in the show and each artist approaches the figure differently. it is amazing to see all the divergent persceptives and techniques hung together.

a figure painting is a work of art with the primary subject being the human figure, whether clothed or nude. figure painting may also refer to the activity of creating such a work. the human figure has been one of the constant subjects of art since the first stone age cave paintings, and has been reinterpreted in various styles throughout history.
