tony hernandez + geraldine neuwirth + scott upton

November 2, 2015 Hidell Brooks

we are extremely excited to cap off an amazing year with three incredible solo exhibitions for tony hernandez, geraldine neuwirth, and scott upton.  the artwork created in their studios are made through completely different techniques and walking through the three galleries in a row is quite powerful.  scott upton mesmerizes you with his color saturation used to draw you into his canvases where one tends to get lost in their beauty.  oil and encaustic on birch panel figurative works by tony hernandez are in the second gallery.  his minimal palette and figures alone adrift surrounded by the occasional bird or letter on a string evoke strong emotions of hope through despair.  the last gallery is full of powerful energy using cut and painted paper to create the mixed media  collages by geraldine neuwirth.  one glance at the multi layered sophisticated collages and one knows they were created by a strong, sure, passionate hand overflowing with creativity that knows no bounds.
