10 artists, 10 bottles...sally king benedict

May 22, 2017 Hidell Brooks

10 artists, 10 bottles a new exhibition at the world of coca-cola in atlanta opened this week.  10 local artists were asked to each paint a 4-ft. sculpted coke bottle into a unique piece expressing their diverse styles.  we are thrilled to see the bottle of coca-cola painted by gallery artist sally king benedict.  growing up sally was inspired by the students and teachers in her hometown of atlanta and used her classic faces to cover the bottle.

“having lived and worked in her hometown of atlanta for the last five years, sally king benedict credits the city’s dynamic mix of people and cultures as the inspiration for her bottle’s design. one childhood memory proved particularly inspirational: “i will always have fond memories of performing with my elementary school jump rope team on the steps of the entrance to the old world of coca-cola. the camaraderie of the students and teachers from all over the city was amazing. i included some of those faces in my bottle, and i’m hoping to bring out some light and positive energy with those faces.”
— sally king benedict, 'from sun to moon'
“coca-cola shares a hometown with many incredibly talented artists, this exhibit was commissioned to celebrate the 10th anniversary of world of coca-cola at pemberton place, and it also offers up a taste of local talent, celebrating the work of the incredible creatives who call atlanta home.”
— russell jacobs, general manager, world of coca-cola

10 artists, 10 bottles is on view at the world of coca-cola through may 2018.  hidell brooks is counting down to our next solo exhibition for sally king benedict in march 2018.
