in love with our recent installation in a high rise overlooking downtown charlotte.  a pair of paintings by windy o'connor popped on the darker wall color especially in the lucite frames. both paintings are from her new series entitled pulling weeds.

hidell brooks gallery is delighted to be representing the work of ceramic artist virginia scotchie. virginia is the area head of ceramics at the university of south carolina in columbia, sc.  she holds a bfa in ceramics from unc-chapel hill and in 1985 completed her master of fine arts at alfred university in new york.

hidell brooks is overwhelmingly excited for the opening of selena beaudry's second solo exhibition color, cut, stripe and mark this friday night may 2nd from 6-8 pm.  selena arrived from london earlier this week to start the installation process for her show with the piece de resistance a nine by twelve foot cut paper collage.

big news around hidell brooks gallery.  my sweet daughter and rebecca's goddaughter peggy thomas had her first museum show this week!  we were on gallery business in new york when peggy told me over the phone her artwork a portrait of me no less had been picked to be in an exhibition of student art at the mint museum uptown.

awesome easter weekend install at figure eight island of two large paintings by jenny nelson.  hidell brooks is in awe of jenny's queitly powerful paintings.  jenny nelson attended maine college of art in portland, maine and graduated with a bfa from bard college where she received a scholarship to the lacoste school of the arts in france. 

hidell brooks loves a good app.  we are celebrating our one year anniversary of being on house account.  house account was started by our friends laura vinroot poole and travis parsons.

the scout guide charlotte volume 3 is out this week.  we were thrilled to be in the guide for the third consecutive year.  editor hobby sherman did a fabulous job once again scouting charlotte to highlight the best of local in our wonderful city.

solo exhibitions opening this week on different coasts for two of our artists.  on the west coast baroque sensibilities: sherrie wolf is opening at the long beach museum of art.  on the east coast john westmark-narratives is opening at the gibbes museum in charleston, south carolina.

we were delighted to unload a truck full of new paintings by amanda talley arriving from new orleans over the weekend.  amanda has been very busy in her studio painting amazing works.

hidell brooks had a wonderful installation this week!  we installed two paintings by jenny nelson stacked on top of each other in a client's living room.  they looked beautiful.
