we had a wonderful visit with tony hernandez in his studio before the new paintings were transported to the gallery for our current exhibition. to see the work in person for the first time after sneak peeks here and there plus hearing about the imagery evolving over time is such a thrill.

september brings another virtual opening for the gallery. four amazing exhibitions of new work by southern artists tony hernandez, rick beck, nate rogers and virginia scotchie. it is hard to describe our feelings this week while installing the shows.

we recently had a wonderful studio visit with north carolina artist rick beck to get a preview of new work for his upcoming exhibition at the gallery opening virtually september 4th.

one thing for sure lifting our spirits these days is all the amazing new work by our wonderful artists coming through the doors every day at the gallery. the pandemic is certainly causing a lot of creativity to flow.

another virtual opening in the books for 2020! we are beyond thrilled to see all the new paintings by rana rochat, sherrie wolf, katherine ace and kim testone finally hanging on the gallery walls.

we have to say it is a wonderful feeling to see work back on the gallery walls! hidell brooks is by appointment only but we can share the beauty through cyber space.

next up for the q & a series is atlanta artist rana rochat. hidell brooks has been exhibiting rana’s encaustic work for years and we are super excited for her solo exhibition in july. the show will include new works on paper and panel

our next artist up for the q & a series is the figurative artist nathaniel rogers. nate was born in charlottesville, virginia and received a b.a. in studio art from davidson college.

getting to know our artists and their work is one of the most pleasurable aspects of our job. being able to be a bystander and watch styles develop and change over the years is an intimate position.

well we are still rolling with the punches and adapting to the ever changing uncontrollable world. seeing all the new amazing work being created in our artist’s studios is keeping us motivated and inspired daily.
