intro...page davis

July 14, 2014 Hidell Brooks

hidell brooks is delighted to introduce our collectors to the work of page davis.  page was born in atlanta and now resides in spartanburg, south carolina.  she recently received her mfa in 2013 from the savannah college of art and design as well as her masters in painting in 2010.  page is an adjunct art professor at converse college.  her abstract paintings were included in a group exhibition siblings at the spartanburg museum of art this past fall.  page's color saturation and her compositions are spot on.  her paintings are bursting with color and form.

my work is created with the intention of defining a visual space that evokes emotions such as curiosity, intimacy, playfulness, and chance. Inspiration comes from the aesthetic of the modern market place found in places such as advertisements, apps, catalogs, and stores. juxtaposing this aesthetic with glimpses of the artist hand signifies the importance of human contact in a culture that is becoming more and more communicative but ironically, less connected. the work encourages the viewer to bring their own experiences to an open ended dialogue, in which there is an implied invitation for them to become a part of the story.

new paintings by page davis are included in our current exhibition women in abstract.  please call the gallery if you would like further information on page.  the exhibition is up through the end of august.
