loving the amanda talley diptych we hung this morning in a client's family room.  the beautiful paintings were a commission due to the need for a specific size and a pair. 

the end of the summer heat has finally arrived and with the last few hot days ahead we thought we would share with you our favorite sizzling paintings at hidell brooks.

hidell brooks gallery is very envious of one of our artists who won the lottery to be the first american artist in residence at the world renown heron island research station on the great barrier reef.  ruth ava lyons is headed there for the month of october.

hidell brooks gallery is getting excited for the opening of figures and forms:the glass sculpture of rick beck at the columbia museum of art.  the exhibition opens august 20th and runs through december 8th. 

the new august/september issue of charlotte urban home is out this week featuring the home of ashleigh and kevin white on colville road.  hidell brooks gallery had the pleasure of working with ashleigh and her designer melissa armstrong of melissa armstrong interiors based in raleigh.

a client recently finished building a mountain home and shared with us their arless day collage perch on the mantel in the living room.  the collage painting was a commission done specifically for the spot.

our new artist john westmark is currently on the cover of surface design journal.  the summer issue spotlights gender.  the surface design journalis a quarterly print publication focused on the creative exploration of fiber and fabric.

flips, twirls & whirls was the last watercolor we received from selena beaudry's studio before she moved to london.  we got it in last week and the watercolor did not stay long at hidell brooks.  we installed it yesterday at it's new home and the painting looked amazing!  

summer is all about the road trip.  the excitement and then the never ended car ride to your destination only to turn around and get back in the car on the return.  hidell brooks loves our solo exhibition for ron porter up right now in the gallery.

there is a wonderful article in the july/august issue of art and antiques magazine on the genre of still life painting.   the article spotlights paintings by five contemporary artists including the amazing paintings by sherrie wolf.
